Framework® Homeownership Founding Partners Announce Ownership Change for Pioneering Social Enterprise

Housing Partnership Network to Acquire Minnesota Homeownership Center’s Interest and Become Sole Owner of Framework

BOSTON, MA – July 27, 2023 – The Housing Partnership Network (HPN) and Minnesota Homeownership Center (the Center) have completed the transaction for HPN to acquire the Center’s 50 percent interest in Framework®, an industry-leading online homeownership education consumer services platform, co-founded in 2012 by the two organizations. As a result of this acquisition, Framework is positioned to leverage its track record to advance its culturally competent online education services to benefit consumers across the housing stability spectrum and beyond.

Framework is “Where Homeownership Starts and Grows”. It serves homebuyers and homeowners with the trusted content and support they need to understand the home-buying process and the responsibilities of owning their own homes. Framework’s reach has grown exponentially since entering the marketplace in 2012. Through a national network of partnerships with counseling agencies, housing finance agencies, mortgage lenders, and more, nearly 1.6 million U.S. households have taken the Framework course online as part of their pursuit of homeownership.

“Framework was founded on the belief that ‘Homeownership is for Everyone’; to make this critical information available to people whenever and wherever they are, by leveraging the power of technology to help millions of people to pursue their dream," says Framework board chair Mary Tingerthal. “The critical mission of Framework will continue and strengthen as a result of this mutual agreement among the founding partners.”

Under the leadership of its new President and CEO, Omar Esposito, Framework is evolving to expand its service reach and utility to respond to consumers and businesses in a rapidly changing environment. “We are proud of the growth and success of Framework, and our partnership with Minnesota Homeownership Center over the years,” notes HPN’s President and CEO, Robin Hughes. “We look forward to Framework’s future and this unique opportunity to expand access to homeownership for the communities our members serve and beyond.”

Minnesota Homeownership Center President, Julie Gugin, reflects, “The Center is extremely proud of its role in co-creating and launching Framework, and proud of its dedicated staff over the years for growing the enterprise into something far more successful than we would have envisioned back in 2012. We’re excited to watch its continued evolution moving forward under the direction of CEO Omar Esposito, and wish him and his staff continued success.”
