Zoning for Transit-Oriented Development in Massachusetts
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts utilizes a collection of laws, all variations of “Chapter 40”, to dictate development in relation to zoning and land use. In 2021, Massachusetts added a new Section 3A to the Zoning Act (Chapter 40A), generally referred to as the MBTA Communities Law, which requires multifamily zoning as-of-right in areas served by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).

Minnesota SHARE Coalition: Journey to $50 Million
Between 2020-2023, Minnesota experienced the turmoil that has plagued the affordable housing sector across the nation: the emergence of COVID-19, a racial reckoning after the murder of George Floyd, and one of the longest pandemic-era eviction moratoria in the country. These challenges exacerbated the state’s need for additional funding to support affordable housing.
