King, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Ray Charles, and James Brown, and helped develop local talent like Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bob Schneider, Gary Clark Jr., and others.
And because we're in Texas, we'll be doing something different and our event will be more of a seamless party featuring BBQ, live music, and great camaraderie.

Closing Plenary - 11:30am
We will conclude the Fall Member Meeting with a plenary highlighting the multi-faceted work of HPN member cdcb (come dream. come build.). Based in Brownsville along the Texas/Mexico border and serving the southernmost area of the U.S., cdcb has been a leading housing and community developer for 50 years, applying a collaborative, community-led approach to all kinds of pioneering projects – from sustainable homeownership and affordable mortgage lending, colonia redevelopment and rental housing, to youth workforce development, to creating an alternative to pay day lenders now franchised in 22 markets across the country, and a long etcetera.
We will hear from Nick Mitchell-Bennett, who has been cdcb’s visionary leader for the past 16 years and serves on the HPN board, and other cdcb leaders about how their belief that “choice is the key to equity,” has defined their innovative work over the years. Join us for an inspiring, interactive discussion that will transport us to another corner of the great state of Texas before we close out the final member meeting of the year.
