Milestone memories at spring member meeting

Over 225 HPN members representing 82 organizations – including 55 CEOs – convened at our 58th biannual Member Meeting in Chicago in June 2023. We were particularly excited to engage our members in observance of the Network’s 30th anniversary.

Celebration and reflections on three decades of shared, scaled, and collective commitment to the nonprofit affordable housing sector include:

U.S. HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge congratulating the Network and calling for a renewal of our shared commitment to collaboration and transformation

Welcome remarks and courageous conversations with member CEOs and leaders in policy and philanthropy.

“Access to stable, affordable housing is an essential foundation. If we want to build a more just, equitable and inclusive world, we have to look at housing. It's just not possible without it.”

Revelry at the Chicago History Museum, where members, partners, and staff expressed gratitude for the value of practitioner-based peer exchange, collaborative social innovation, collective policy advancement, and, often, an invaluable forum for leaders not to feel alone.

Tributes to Bob Whittlesey, our founder, visionary, and friend who passed away early this spring.

“All of us have to work together to transform what is a broken housing market, in a very real substantial way.”

A roundtable discussion with member CEOs and new leadership from the Wells Fargo Foundation to explore how the Network and members will engage in strategic partnerships and take calculated risks to challenge the status quo together.

"It’s the value of coming together. Whether you're in San Francisco or LA or Minneapolis, or Davenport, Iowa, the work that we're doing is tied to one another... the real value is in not feeling alone. Because the work that we do is so hard. "
