The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB) founded in 1964, has grown to be one of the largest and most accomplished nonprofit housing developers and owners in the United States. TCB’s mission is to build and sustain strong communities where all people can thrive. We realize our mission by developing, financing and operating affordable and mixed-income residential communities, neighborhood amenities and resident opportunity programs. TCB has constructed or preserved hundreds of affordable and mixed-income housing developments and secured billions of dollars in project financing from public and private sources and undertakes community development activities including developing, owning, managing and financing quality retail and community facilities in the neighborhoods where we work. ​ Our community life (CL) model connects children, adults and seniors to resources and opportunities to succeed. Using stable housing as a platform, our approach is resident-centered, evidence-based and outcome-driven. Today, our ownership and management portfolio exceeds 14,000 apartment homes in fifteen states and the District of Columbia. TCB has regional offices in Boston, Chicago, Columbus, New York, and Washington, D.C
