About Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation
The mission of Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation (GMHC) is to preserve, improve and increase affordable housing for low and moderate income individuals and families, assist communities with housing revitalization as well as create and carry out demonstration projects. GMHC was formed in 1970 by the Minneapolis business community with the primary purpose of improving the availability and quality of affordable housing for low and moderate income families in the Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. GMHC builds and renovates single family homes and provides predevelopment revolving loan funds for the development of affordable multifamily housing developments. To date, GMHC has created over 2,000 homes and provided loan commitments of $74,410,409 for the development of nearly 27,000 units of affordable housing.
