About Community Preservation and Development Corporation
Established in 1989, Community Preservation and Development Corporation (CPDC) is a leading not-for-profit real estate developer focused on the acquisition, redevelopment, and operation of housing communities affordable to low- and moderate-income individuals and families. Since its inception, CPDC has worked to increase the stock of affordable housing in the Mid-Atlantic region and has owned and/or redeveloped more than 35 affordable housing communities throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Today, the organization owns and operates over 5,500 residential apartments, serving more than 10,000 residents.
In the operation of its portfolio, CPDC makes an ongoing investment in residents and community. CPDC provides high-quality, tailored, and persistent Community Impact Strategies (CIS) that bring about dynamic change at both the personal and community level. CPDC employs a data-driven community building model that is built upon five areas of sustainable community development and serves as the basis for all CIS programming: economic development, education, environment, health and wellness, and resident engagement.
In January 2018 CPDC combined with Enterprise Community Investments (ECI) and operates as CPDC as an affiliate of ECI.
