About Chicanos Por La Causa
Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is a community development corporation (CDC) that provides services in Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. Since 1969, CPLC has been changing lives by developing self-sufficiency and instilling empowerment in those we serve. Our focus areas are economic development, education, housing, and social services. Today, we have 50 programs & services, 779 employees, and 60 offices, making CPLC the third-largest Hispanic non-profit in the nation and the largest non-profit CDC in Arizona. In January 2016 CPLC and UnitedHealthcare launched the myCommunity Connect Center, uniting a variety of health and community services through nonprofit and government providers under one roof to provide integrated, holistic services to the community. The myCommunity ConnectTM Center is part of the myConnectionsTM pilot program, which UnitedHealthcare developed to provide low-income individuals and families with access to essential social, medical and behavioral services that can have a significant impact on their health and quality of life. In 2010, as the lead agency in a 13-member consortium of non-profit community development organizations, CPLC was awarded a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Neighborhood Stabilization II (NSP2) award in the amount of $137-million to stabilize communities impacted by home foreclosure and abandonment. CPLC, as the lead agency, implemented the program activities and protocols between the 13 non-profits across eight states including AZ and the District of Columbia. As of June, 2018, the NSP 2 grant has expended $226,000,000 which includes $102,000,000 in program income since May of 2010. This translates into almost 1000 single family units acquired, over 1500 MF units acquired, and almost 750 of the SF homes sold or leased. CPLC's asset portfolio is statewide in Arizona, rural areas of New Mexico and Nevada. USDA Self Help Program and CPLC marked 20 years in 2015.
