Director, Peer Exchange
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Housing Partnership Network’s operating system has always been peer exchange. It is how our members learn from one another, it is how we start social enterprises and how we manage them, it is how we conduct our policy advocacy. Peer exchange is both embedded in our organizational DNA and is our key source of business intelligence. Reporting to the Vice President, Membership and International Exchange, the Director of Peer Exchange will lead multiple peer exchange efforts among HPN members, ranging from organizing and managing dozens of virtual sessions annually, facilitating a number of these exchanges, helping develop the content for two in-person member meetings a year as well as specialized in-person convenings, analyzing the learnings from our peer exchanges to identify innovation opportunities and key policy issues, and connecting members with one another around topics raised in our peer exchanges. The Director will help staff HPN’s Board Racial Equity Committee and will take the lead in our member peer exchange and related efforts on racial equity.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Virtual Peer Exchange
- Organize and manage peer exchange sessions throughout the year, including HPN’s 12 peer exchange communities by functional areas (COOs, CFOs, etc.) as well as cross-cutting topics
- Lead/facilitate at least two virtual peer exchanges every quarter
- Work closely with staff and members to identify cross-cutting topics for virtual peer exchange
Member Meetings and Related Efforts
- Project manage content development for two in-person member meetings per year
- Lead/facilitate some of the sessions at in-person meetings
- Work closely with VP developing program content and project management for two industry collaboratives – Strength Matters, an initiative focused on financial management, and the International Housing Partnership, linking HPN to networks in the UK, Canada, and Australia
Racial Equity
- Coordinate HPN’s external racial equity efforts with members
- Help staff HPN’s Board Committee on Racial Equity
- Develop, lead, and facilitate peer exchange on racial equity
- Develop and manage measurement tools to assess HPN network progress on racial equity efforts
Peer Exchange Analysis and Follow-Up
- Analyze and summarize learnings from peer exchanges and create reports to share with members, funders, and industry partners that identify trends, opportunities, challenges, and action steps
- Review meeting notes/recordings from the various peer exchanges and make connections among members who are experiencing similar challenges and opportunities
- Review meeting notes/recordings and coordinate with staff to ensure appropriate follow-up action from peer exchanges and identify innovation opportunities and key policy issues
- Review notes from CEO’s 1:1 conversations with HPN CEOs (and other similar conversations with HPN leaders) and distill key information that can be tracked in Salesforce and/or HPN’s Knowledge Center, and can be used to develop future peer exchange, follow-up, in making member connections, and to identify opportunities for HPN’s enterprises to expand their business with members.
- Working with our Knowledge Management team, create a tracking system to access key learnings from all peer exchanges
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of education and experience
- 7+ years of professional experience in the community development and/or affordable housing or related industry.
- A demonstrable understanding of current housing and community development practices and issues is preferred.
- Understanding of racial equity work and issues with a preference for experience in facilitating, developing, and leading racial equity efforts
- Experience in fostering peer exchange and collaboration is a plus
- Self-starter with strong organizational, writing, technology, and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
OTHER
- Ideally the position is based in Boston, but will consider other locations
- Moderate amount of travel (3-5 times a year, more if candidate located outside of Boston)
- New employees need to either (1) provide proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or (2) granted an exemption prior to beginning work at HPN. At this time, HPN considers an employee “fully vaccinated” when they have completed their primary COVID-19 vaccination series and received a COVID-19 booster. Employees will have four weeks from their “due date” (five or six months, depending on vaccine type, from completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination series) to get the COVID-19 booster.
COMPENSATION
- Salary range for the position is $89,000 to $133,000 commensurate with education and experience, with a bonus potential.
