HPN Wins Prestigious MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions

The Housing Partnership Network was selected to receive the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions (MACEI) in February of 2013. The prestigious award, presented by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, is granted to "exceptional organizations" that address the world's most pressing problems in creative ways.

HPN's award included a $1.5 million dollar grant, the largest award among the 13 organizations recognized this year by the MacArthur Foundation. HPN will use its MACEI award funding to create a new Research and Development Fund to accelerate innovation and reduce the cost and time required to launch new ventures.

The MacArthur Foundation does not seek or accept nominations for MACEI awards. To qualify, organizations must demonstrate exceptional creativity and effectiveness; have reached a critical or strategic point in their development; show strong leadership and stable financial management; have previously received MacArthur Foundation support; and engage in work central to one of the Foundation's core programs.

HPN was one of only eight U.S. institutions honored with a MACEI award this year, and the only organization in the housing and community development field to receive this recognition.
