Oren Brandvain has joined HPN as a Project Analyst with Develop Detroit – a newly formed real estate and housing development company focused on the revitalization of Detroit neighborhoods – to provide assistance in the conceptualization, analysis, and management through the development process for a variety of individual real estate projects. Oren, a Metro-Detroit native, received his Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan in 2015, where he specialized in Housing, Community, and Economic Development and was a finalist in HUD's first national Innovation in Affordable Housing design competition.
Oren's passion for Detroit was stoked in 2009, when he served as a Conservation Crew Leader for the Greening of Detroit, leading Detroit high school students in urban greening and conservation projects in every corner of the city. Throughout his Masters program Oren continued his focus on Detroit; as a intern with DTE Energy contributing to the Energize Detroit neighborhood revitalization program and as the Vacant Land Assistant with the Greening of Detroit developing a vacant land management strategy in the Cody Rouge Neighborhood. In his masters Capstone Oren worked closely with the Osborn Neighborhood Alliance to develop a Housing and Urban Design Strategy for the Osborn Neighborhood.
Prior to joining Develop Detroit, Oren served as an Assistant City Planner for the City of Birmingham, Michigan, where he worked with residents, developers, architects, and government employees to administer the Birmingham Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance.
